INVENTION DOCUMENTATION: It's Truly Important

Documenting your invention is critically important. In fact, such documentation may actually be critical in determining that you are the first and true inventor of an invention.

As such, proper and complete documentation of your invention may be one fundamental way to start to protect your invention.

Although laboratory notebooks are best employed when documenting the design and development of complicated inventions, simpler inventions may be documented, at least initially, by creating a written description of your invention, possibly including a number of sketches or drawings. In general, a working model is not required to document or patent an invention.
